Dental Exams and Prevention in Valencia

Our top priority is preventing dental disease and maintaining optimal oral health.

We believe the patient and the dental team must work together to preserve and maintain your natural teeth, gum tissue and jawbone.

For you, the patient, it all starts at home with practicing good oral habits, as well as eating a healthful and balanced diet. It continues with routine visits to the dentist where the dental team helps to promote, restore and maintain your dental health.

We do this through regular dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, preventative treatments and restoration of cavities. By following this formula, you can avoid more severe and costly dental problems that arise from poor oral health and habits.

We treat our patients exactly as we would our family and are honored to be part of their lives.

On your first visit you can expect:

  • An introduction to our office and staff.
  • A thorough examination and review of your oral health and overall health history, including necessary dental x-rays.
  • A careful evaluation of your current dental status and concerns.
  • A discussion of the most satisfactory treatment plans to meet your oral health goals.

During our exams, our Dentist and hygienist will:

  • Examine the radiographs/x-rays for decay, abscess, cysts, tumors, bone loss, developmental abnormalities and determine the tooth and root positions.
  • Perform an oral cancer screening inside and outside your mouth such as the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, gums, cheek, palate, lymph nodes, etc.
  • Evaluate your gums and bone around the teeth for signs of gingivitis and periodontal disease.
  • Examine all areas of the tooth surface and existing dental restorations such as fillings and crowns for decay and abnormalities with special dental instruments.

In our office, we only use digital x-rays that instantly capture and store the digital images on a computer. This type of x-ray reduces radiation 80-90% compared to traditional dental x-rays. It is also faster, safer, and more comfortable than traditional x-rays. Even though they produce a low level of radiation and are considered very safe, we always use lead apron shields and take precautions to take only x-rays that are necessary.

For new patients, we prefer to take a full mouth set of x-rays. X-rays which show the top and bottom teeth biting together are taken yearly at check-up visits so we can detect any new dental problems before they get worse and more costly.

You will have a chance to review all recommended treatments and ask any questions you might have. We are here for you every step of the way and enjoy educating our patients on their dental health.
